REFUGIO — The Refugio Boys & Girls Club received a $10,000 grant from Valero on Oct. 13.

The Refugio club was one of 40 Coastal Bend children’s charities that shared $375,000 in grants from the company.

The money is raised by the Valero Texas Open Benefit for Children Golf Classic.

Board members Nan Linney and Phyllis Hayes accepted the check on Oct. 13.

Other board members are Prudie Piwetz, Frank Hosey and Wanda Dukes.

“They were very excited when they were informed the club received this grant,” Linney said. “The Boys & Girls Club board members are very grateful for this grant and all other monies that help to keep the doors open.”
