REFUGIO — The 6th graders at Refugio Elementary School met a challenge posed by their teacher Boogie Barber — to pass the TAKS test.

Eighty percent passed and 34 percent scored commended performance To celebrate their achievement, the sixth graders covered Mrs. Barber in chocolate and then doused her with feathers.

On Halloween, the kids were rewarded for their efforts.

“They had been asking me all year when were they going to do it,” Barber said. “I kept saying “soon.” We thought it would be fun on Halloween. The kids had a blast!”

Two students who had perfect scores helped Mrs. Barber clean up.

“I would like to thank all students, administration, teachers, and parents that helped make this possible,” Barber said. “I would do it again in a heartbeat!”
