SAN ANTONIO - The Refugio Bobcats went into the season ranked No. 1 - next Friday night in Cowboys Stadium they will get the opportunity to prove they belong in the top spot in the state's 2A Div. 2. Friday night in Heroes Stadium in San Antonio, the Bobcats walloped the Lexington Eagles 63-33 - a pay-back for the Bobcats' loss last year to the Eagles in the same round of the playoffs.

Quarterback Travis Quintanilla vowed the Bobcats would not give up or let up and they did not.

Refugio receiver Lynx Hawthorne nabbed spectacular catch after catch and running backs Draigon Silvas and Shiloh Whetsel slipped through throngs of Eagle defenders to run the length of the field.

The Eagles just couldn't plug all the holes as Bobcats Cory Brown, Malcolm Franklin, Marcus Thompson and Chase Whetsel took turns moving the ball.

The Bobcats dominated the field defensively as well. Justin Padilla,Richard Tuttle, Jack Gumm, and Donald Trevino relentlessly defended against the Eagles who mustered too little, too late in the game.
