BONNIE VIEW — O.D. and Frances Bell of Bonnie View received an unexpected and unusual thank you last week on Pearl Harbor Day.

Mrs. Bell was having a problem with one of their credit cards and called the service center. Noticing an unusual accent from the lady on the other end of the line, Bell asked a question.

“Where are you located?” she asked.

The lady replied, “the Philippines.”

“I told her my husband was in the service in the Philippines,” Mrs. Bell said.

After straightening out the problem and before saying goodbye, the lady said, “Thank your husband for saving us from the Japanese!”

“It was an unexpected but nice gesture for my husband who was a plane captain in the Navy.”
