ARLINGTON — The Refugio Bobcats won their first state football championship in almost 30 years today by beating Cisco, 36-35, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

The Bobcats forced a late turnover on downs and almost gave away a late 10-point lead, but managed to hold on at the end to the one-point victory.

Last week, the Refugio Bobcats beat Lexington in the semifinal round of the Class 2A, Division II playoffs by pounding the Eagles, 63-33, in San Antonio’s Heroes Stadium.
