Nineteen Refugio High School students were inducted into the National Honor Society in ceremonies last month.

REFUGIO – The Refugio Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 19 students during its annual ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 20.

The new inductees lighted candles during the ceremonies to take their place in the highly-prestigious organization.

New members, who met the requirements for membership include seniors Justin Franklin and Lynx Hawthorne; junior Lexy Hawthorne; sophomores Claire Blaschke, Johnathan Brown, Marquise Brown, Ashley Camacho, Alexis Coronado, Jackie Gonzales, Kenzie Herring, Shane Jochet, Morgan Klaevemann, Dalton Klare, Carley Koonce, Jim LaFond, Cameron Loveday, Courtney Myers, Mercedes Perez and Hannah Rose.

Membership in the National Honor Society is based on an outstanding performance in four core areas including scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Students must maintain a 90 or above GPA, participate in community service projects, have the qualities of a student leader, and uphold principles of morality and ethics.
