Katelin (Kate) Ruddock, wrote the following Christmas poem for her fifth grade class at Austwell-Tivoli Elementary.

“I was speechless when it was brought to me in her handwriting,” said Steven Maldonado, principal. “The poem was written in 10 minutes and in one sitting.

Christmas trees start to twinkle with lights,

and people start to plan for the long winter nights.

Kids start to cheer for winter vacation,

the world starts to spin with a Christmas sensation.

Gifts are wrapped and snow starts to glisten

as children gather and start to listen

For sleigh bells far out in the snow

in hopes that Santa will know where to go.

Snow piles high, but there’s much to be done.

There is no time to wish for the warm summer sun.

Christmas is also Christ’s birthday

which is the most important thing that you could say.

Christmas is truly not all about presents and friends,

It’s when Jesus was born to save us from our sins.
