January 9, 2012 in his home in Woodsboro, Texas.
He was born on May 3, 1930 in Temple, Texas to William
H. and Lorena D. Mcclure. he was a Navy Veteran and
served in the Medical Corp. on ship during the Korean
conflict. Doc was a teacher at William Adams Junior High
in Alice, Texas for over 30 years. He was a member of the
Alice and Refugio VFW's, the Refugio Methodist Church, The Lion's
Club, The Corpus Christi Wood Working Club and Victoria Wood Working
Club. Doc enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, wood working, and dancing.
Also enjoyed raising pigeons and bird dogs.
Doc is survived by his wife, Mary Benson of Woodsboro, two sons,
Kenneth Benson of Corpus Christi, Texas and Roy (Kim) Benson of Corsicana, Texas,
one daughter, Katherine Tiffany of Corpus Christi, Texas. Three step-sons, Trey (Viola) Todd of
Beeville, Texas, Donnie (Anna) Todd of Beeville Texas and Johnny Lee (Donna) Todd of Woodsboro
Texas, one sister, Shirley Kennons of San Antonio, Texas. Nine Grandchildren; Kristopher Benson, Holly
Benson, and Harley Benson, Austin Todd, Abigail Todd, Brianna, Hanah and Brooks Todd, and Donald Todd.
Three Great-grandchildren, Audrey Benson, Kaden Benson and Sanal Benson.
Memorial Service was January 16, 2012 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice, Texas.
Interment will be at Barkley, Texas at a later date.
