Quintanilla was named the offensive player of the year and Trevino was selected as the defensive player of the year by the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All State Football Team.
Both players were also named Associated Press All State Players of the Year.
Other first team selections are junior offensive tackle John Wesley Shipp, senior wide receiver Lynx Hawthorne and junior linebacker Jack Gumm.
Junior running back Draigon Silvas was a second team pick; and senior linebacker Jake Heryford received honorable mention honors.
Quintanilla, Trevino and Hawthorne were also named to the second team of the MaxPreps U.S. Air Force Small Schools All-American Team.
Bobcat head coach Jason Herring has been coaching for 18 years but this year’s team set records for him as well.
“In all my 18 years of coaching and two state championships, this is the first time I’ve had a player selected for a national title, mush less having three selected,” Herring said. “In all those years, I’ve never had a player of the year.”
Now, he has two who were selected by two different organizations.
“To have the offensive and defensive players of the year on both teams is just a real honor for our program,” he said.
