Lions Club burger tickets on sale now for county fair

WOODSBORO – Commissioner Stanley Tuttle, guest speaker, explained his position as commissioner of precinct 2 during the Woodsboro Lions Club monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

The guest speaker is also a member of the Woodsboro Lions Club.

The commissioner also outlined his accomplishments and future agenda of his precinct for Refugio County. The members then turned their attention to future projects.

A mop and broom sale was is a possibility as a fund raiser for the near future. Plans were also made for the Refugio County Fair and the clubs preparations for the hamburger and coke stand. The club also began talks on the July 4th celebration on the square.

“Anyone interested in buying burger tickets for the fair can be bought from a Lions Club Member starting now,” a spokesperson said. “Anyone interested in participating in the 4th of July parade, or venders that would like to set up a booth are welcomed to get in touch with any member.”

Members and committee leaders for the Fourth of July will be discussing more plans at future meetings.

Some members will attend the zone meeting in Seadrift scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 23.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 13.

“Anyone wishing to become a member or would like to be able to serve in the community are welcomed to attend,” said the spokesperson.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church, 809 Locke St. in Woodsboro.
