Nancy Simonson, 60, of Corpus Christi, died Saturday, March 3, 2012. Ms. Simonson was born in Spencer, Iowa, on Oct. 2, 1951, to Merle and Terese Simonson. She graduated from Mary Carroll High School and later graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. She then attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she received her doctor of jurisprudence in 1977. Nancy initially served as an assistant attorney general in Austin before joining the Canales law firm in 1983.

She was preceded in death by her father, Merle Simonson, Sr. and her nephew, James Ehrlich.

Survivors include her mother, Terese Simonson; four brothers, Stan; John; James and Joe Simonson; three sisters, Terri (Clarke) Ehrlich, Jeanene (Jimmie) Jones and Becky Simonson and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.

Visitation was held Friday, March 9, from 5-7 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with a rosary to be recited there at 7 o’clock.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Saturday March 10 at 11 a.m. with Father Pat Donohoe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Food for the Poor, the Food Bank of Corpus Christi, St. Mary’s Academy Charter School in Beeville, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of one’s choice.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Charles Simonson, James Parker, John Simonson, Jay Jones, Jodie Biggs, Daniel Jones and James Simonson.

Alex Head will be an honorary pallbearer.
