The Pettus Lady Eagle varsity basketball team wasted little time on Tuesday night, flying by the host Yorktown Kitty Kats by the score of 51-28.

“Yorktown was very aggressive, but we stayed calm and collected. The girls played the best game I’ve seen them play all year. They played as one unit with everyone working together as a team,” said Lady Eagle head coach Darcy Siddon.

It was all Lady Eagles as they led by 10 at the end of one quarter and that was stretched to 19, 29-10, by the end of the first half. It was 41-17 going into the final stanza and the Lady Eagles put it away with a good fourth quarter.

Jessica Stanley hit for 17 points on the strength of 11 out of 12 free throws in the contest. Paige Fox added 11 points with one trey. Tori Garza added nine markers and came up with six steals. Lindsay P. produced six points and also pulled down 17 big rebounds. Sarah Gill contributed four markers along with five caroms and four steals. Chole Garza had two points and two steals.

The Lady Eagles played host to Falls City on Friday in a big district showdown between to two top teams (both are 3-0) in District 31-A. The Lady Eagles will then host the Port Aransas Lady Marlins on Tuesday night.
