Jochetz, Levick earn medals, team wins second in Austin

Kalob Jochetz and Braden Levick took numerous medals and helped their team win second place in a gymnastics meet for ages 7-9 in Austin at Akins High School on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Kalob medaled in floor events including the pommel horse, rings and vault. In addition, he placed 19 in the all-around of more than 100 gymnast who competed.

Braden earned a medal on the rings.

This is first year the boys have trained at Tag’s World Gymnastics in Portland. This was their first meet.

Level four men’s gymnastics events are floor, rings, high bar, P-bars, pommel horse, vault, and all around. Gymnastics is based on strength, speed, balance, and determination. Their team placed second out of 15 teams.

The boys are in training and will soon attend other meets in Austin, San Antonio and Houston. The South State Championship will be held in the spring on March 28.

Kalob is the son of DeAnne and Larry Jochetz of Woodsboro.

Braden is the son of Roberta and Allen Levick of Woodsboro.
