LEWISVILLE — Jimmy Lou Berridge, 66, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas after a lengthy battle with Hammon-Rich, a lung syndrome. She was a resident of Lewisville for 34 years.
Jimmy Lou graduated from Refugio High School in 1964 and was the valedictorian of her class. She graduated magna cum laude from Texas Woman’s University in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in health recreation and physical education, and in 1978 with a master’s of health education in 1978.
She taught middle school physical education and high school tennis and gymnastics for eight years before she became a stay at home mom.
She was a sales director for Mary Kay cosmetics and did motivational speeches. After her mother’s death, she worked as director of volunteers and educational outreach with Autumn Journey Hospice. She married her husband Ron Berridge in Dallas on June 10, 1972.
Jimmy Lou was born in Refugio March 25, 1946 to Jimmy and Luella Steele.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, sons, Rex of Austin and Chris Berridge, who is in the Navy serving on the USS New York, daughters-in law Tiffany and Christa; a brother John Steele; and three grandchildren.
Visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday, May 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted at Oakwood Cemetery in Refugio on Friday, June 1 at 10 a.m.
Moore Funeral Home in Refugio is in charge of services.
