Time to look at new administration

Editor:

As much as I would like to debate with Mr. Macias about the previous administration, I will forego that because it serves no purpose to our nation’s future.

I would like to clarify just a few things that Mr. Macias mentioned in his article that I said. I went back and reread my reply to you and no where in my article did I say he could not write to the editor.

Nor did I say I pray you would not write things about George W. Bush. What I said was, “America has never and I pray will never again display such hate-filled and evil acts towards our sitting president.”

By all means Americans should criticize government policies and decisions, but they should never resort to personal insults and threats upon the sitting president, whether it is Wilson, FDR, Truman, Reagan, Clinton, G. W. Bush, or Obama!

We should be able to disagree with one another without becoming uncivil.

So, putting Bush behind us Mr. Macias, please share with the community your opinions of President Obama’s first couple of weeks in office. I, for one, was outraged when he rescinded the Mexico City Policy.

This policy gives mine and your tax dollars to foreign countries so they can promote and provide abortions. I’m guessing this was not the intent of the 16th Amendment.

And what will he do with all the terrorists once the doors of Guantanamo Bay close within a year? Perhaps we have room for them at the Beeville Unit, or surely the Connelly Unit in Karnes County.

Perhaps we could just send them back to Iraq and let them return to the battle field or better yet, release here to roam around the states committing terrorist acts.

I am still wondering why some people believe these terrorists have individual rights in the United States. I always thought those rights were reserved for the citizens of this country. The terrorists are entitled to the rights under the Geneva Convention, which we subscribe to; unfortunately the terrorists don’t and do not treat our soldiers equally well.

Who could complain against beheadings, seems like fair treatment?

Change, which is the new mantra these days, does not appear to be happening. It seems the Democrat ruled House and Senate just might pass a huge pork barrel spending bill disguised as a “stimulus package.” I’m pretty sure a trillion dollar national debt is just the inheritance our grandchildren would like to receive from us.

But, let’s not talk about all that, it is much more important to bash Bush, because while your doing that, our new president and Congress can quickly and quietly spend our tax dollars on things like contraceptives, STD prevention programs, coupons for digital tv conversions, support community activist programs like ACORN and there is still some left over for the National Endowments for the Arts.

Please give us some insight on how the “anointed” one has been doing. Is he living up to the hype?

One last thing, since you’re my elder, Mr. Macias, you can call me “kid” anytime you like. After all, it is your constitutional right.
