She was an artist and an educator for 35 years in several South Texas schools prior to her retirement from Refugio ISD. She was a member of the Refugio County Retired School Personnel.
She graduated from Woodsboro High School in 1958 and from Southwest Texas State University in 1962 with a degree in English and art.
She later earned a master’s degree in English from Sam Houston State University.
She was born July 27, 1940, in Refugio to Otto and Tudie Beck.
She is preceded in death by her father; and brother Rodger Beck and his wife Ellen.
Survivors include her mother of Refugio; three brothers, Robert Beck and wife Connie of Austin, Richard Beck of Edna, and Garner Beck of Refugio; two nephews, Steve Beck of Albuquerque, N.M. and Doug Beck of Austin; and one niece, Jeanie Virden of Georgetown.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Woodsboro. Burial was in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Edgar Schubert, Wayne Schubert, Steve Schubert, Paul Moore, Charles Cook and Forrest Collins.
Honorary pallbearers were Os Aldrich, Edgar Blaschke, Mike Schubert, Charles Schubert, and all her former students.
