The kindergarten students at Refugio Elementary School can now relate to the old adage, “time flies when you are having fun.”

To celebrate the 100th day of school, the students of teachers Mrs. Bauer, Mrs DeLeon and Mrs. Perez’s celebrated various activities to commemorate this milestone.

The students prepared all week for the 100th day of school on Friday, Jan. 30. During the day, the kids sang the 100th Day of School Song and wore a 100th Day of School crowns, which they created.

The students also read Miss Kindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten, One Hundred is a Family, Fluffy’s 100 Day of School, and One Hundred Hungry Ants.

They recorded the event in their journal, with illustrations of children celebrating this day, counted by 5s and 10s, and wrote the numbers 1- 100 on chart paper.

In addition to the activities at school, the students’ involved their families, as well. On Friday, the students brought 100 items to school that were collected with their parents’ help.

Among the items the kids came up with were paper clips, cotton balls, toothpicks, cherries, pinto beans, pennies, kernels of deer corn, and many other items.

To culminate the week’s activities, students iced homemade cupcakes.

“I can’t wait to be in school another 100 days,” said Isabella Mascorro, kindergarten student.
