Stephen Matthew Rubio, 35, of Victoria and formerly of Tivoli, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009. He was a welder at BAE Global Tactical systems in Sealy and a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
He was born Sept. 20, 1973, in Houston, to Edward Rubio and Linda Villarreal Miller.
Survivors include his parents; step-mother, Diana Rubio of Goliad; a daughter, Karisa Rubio of Cuero; a son, Kegan Rubio of Victoria; a sister, Erica Aguilar of Victoria; a brother, Edward Rubio II of Goliad; and two step-sisters, Danette Tressler of Worthington, Ohio and Densie Ladd of Tampa, Fla.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted at 10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Tivoli, with the Rev. Father Stan DeBoe officiating. Burial with military honors was in Tivoli Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Aguilar, Jacob Valdez, Larry Robles, Charles Rivera, Steve Ruiz, Greg Herrera, Jacob DeLaGarza and Chase DeLaGarza.
Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Aguilar, Philip Brittain, Ramiro Hernandez, Brian Cooksey, Troy Williams, Ascencion Arguellez and Brandon Herrman.
