“O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.” (Psalms 119: 5-6)

We need to be very careful not to be picking and choosing one passage over another passage in the Bible. It can be a very serious warning sign when there is any portion of Scripture that we are afraid to read or use. If there is a chapter or a passage in God’s Book that I do not like, it may be because I feel like it accuses or condemns me. It is even more dangerous for us to refuse a passage of God’s precious Word because it does not support what we believe. My duty, as a Christian, is to face each and every verse of the Bible, praying for God to grant me understanding and wisdom (James 1:5). If I feel that a passage of scripture condemns me I need to face and answer that accusation. If I find that accusation to be true, I need to endeavor, as far as is possible, to purify myself with God’s help. We need to be reading those passages of scripture which hurt us the most, praying, as David did, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalms 139:23-24)

Are you part of God’s Family? Consider the work that His son, Jesus Christ, did on the cross for all that trust in Him. He died to make a way for fallen man to become saved; to become family. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).
