She was born May 1, 1923, in Vernon, to James Henry and Effie Lee (Clark) Jordan.
Lucille spent her early life in San Marcos, where her family owned a hotel and resort on the San Marcos River. They later owned a farm in Dilley and settled in Poteet, where she graduated from high school. During WWII, she worked as a driver at Kelly AFB, transporting dignitaries and wounded soldiers.
Later, she operated a restaurant in Poteet. But her fondest memories of her working years came from her time spent as a nursing assistant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene “Gene” Proctor Selle; and siblings, Willie Schleter, Lottie Eubanks, Bill, Luke, Wade and J.B. Jordan.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet Zerr and husband Marc of Hondo; two sons, Robert Autry and wife Rebecca of Seminole and Ronald Autry and wife Shirley of Victoria; and six grandchildren
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, at First United Methodist Church.
Burial was in St. John’s Section in the Hondo Cemetery.
