The Brazos Bottom Cowographers drew rave reviews last year and they’re coming back for more.

The Refugio County Ranch Heritage Committee will once again host the troupe from Central Texas. The Cowographers bring the spirit of the wild west into action through comedy skits that pit law-abiding citizens against gunslingers and saloon floozies.

The group brings 35 to 70 performers with hundreds of props that consist of storefronts, saloons, homes and other objects.

“Last year the committee sponsored this group for the first time and they were a great addition to the fair,” said Kate Campbell, organizer.

During last year’s fair, the group drew crowds who sat on the ground or stood around watching the performances; however, an improvement has been made.

This year, portable bleachers will be in place so the fair crowd can sit for the performances.

“The shows consist of historic, comedic, and fictional sketches, all performed in the spirit of the old west,” Campbell said.

The Cowographers are one of the largest gunfighter groups in Texas and the only traveling group of its size.
