My name is Nikki Martinez. On Friday, Oct. 5, I was involved in a one-car accident on the first curve just past the four-way stop leaving Bayside heading to Portland. My Fiance lost control of our truck when he took the curve, he hit the gravel and we flipped a few times and landed in a field.
I do not remember much from the accident other than somehow I was able to get my one-year-old son out of his car seat and got out the back end of our truck. I went back to help my fiance but was unable to help him out - he was stuck on his seat belt. I sat with my son and quite a few people showed up to help.
An off-duty paramedic calmed me down and told me to sit still because I had severe neck pain. Someone was holding my neck in place until the EMS arrived.
I recently discovered Ann Fierova was the kind lady who comforted my son until the EMS arrived. I am unaware of the names of the gentlemen who helped my fiance out of the truck. I did find out that Eva Fierova Hernandez and her family were there, David Jaramillo and his wife were also there.
I would like to thank Christi Pipkin-Moses for helping me find out who was all present. I would like to thank Ann for comforting my son when I couldn’t.
Also, thank Eva for coming forward and telling me she her family were present. I would like to thank the off-duty paramedic, the person holding me up, the man who let me use his phone, the men who helped my fiance out of the truck.
I’d like to thank all those who were also there to help. I’d like to thank the paramedics and doctors who treated us. If it weren’t for all of the people who stopped to help I have no idea where we’d be now.
Some of you may feel you didn’t do much but to me and my family you did a great deal and we are truly grateful and blessed for every one of you.
I thank God he sent you all there that day; you are angels in disguise. God Bless you all and I thank you all again from me and my family.
