Phillips Darrel Chilton, 52, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.
Chilton, who was originally from Austin, had moved to Refugio where he was a truck driver.
Chilton was traveling toward Refugio and failed to negotiate a curve to the right and drove his motorcycle off the left side of the roadway onto the grassy shoulder. The motorcycle overturned multiple times, according to Esther, a communications operator with DPS in Corpus Christi.
Justice of the Peace Lorraine Lopez was called to the scene and pronounced Chilton dead.
DPS Cpl. C.J. Villarreal out of Rockport investigated the accident.
