He was born July 14, 1936, to Hollis B. Smith and Mildred Morris Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Ilean Smith of Woodsboro; one daughter, Sarah Michelle Robison; three sons, Freddy Moore (Lina) of Hebbronville, Lane Smith Jr. of Tempe Ariz., and Hollis David Smith of Washington; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9. at First Baptist Church of Woodsboro.
Burial was in LaRosa Cemetery in Woodsboro with Dr. Jimmy Arnold officiating.
