Mrs. Parish was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Pittsburgh Pa., the 12th child of immigrant Hungarian parents, John P. and Mary T. Kerekes. She was a first generation American. Betty was the loving wife and homemaker of 58 years to LeRoy T. Parish and a devoted mother and Nana. Her faith, family, and friends were her greatest joys.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Russell; parents, three sisters and five brothers. Survivors include three daughters, Linda S. Duderstadt (David), Kathy M. Walker (Ron), Tracy E. Karnei (Kevin); step-daughter, Violet Munger; and son, John Parish (Gayla); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Colonial Funeral Home in Goliad from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Goliad with Pastor Randy Bruno officiating.
Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery followed by a reception at St. John’s Parish Hall for friends and family. Pallbearers are Kevin Karnei, Kristofer Karnei, David Duderstadt, Wayne Karnei, Marshal Henson, and Chris Perez. Honorary pallbearers are her family and friends.
