GOLIAD – Goliad County Sheriff Kirby Brumby earned re-election Tuesday night as candidates for the three county positions waited until 11 p.m. to receive the final results of the General Election.

Republicans won all three county races. Michelle Garcia defeated Democrat June Bethke 1711-1633 for the Goliad County Tax Assessor/Collector position and Susan Moore beat Democrat Jacqueline Peuttus 814-780 for the Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace post.

The final results were not posted until 10:45 p.m. as technical difficulties with equipment delayed the tabulation of the early voting. All but the early voting in Goliad County had been tabulated by 10 p.m.

Before the early voting was tabulated, Brumby had 836 votes compared to San Miguel's 574 after votes from Precincts 11, 12, 21, 22, 31, 32, 41, and 43 had been tabulated. Approximately 38 percent of Goliad County's registered voters cast their ballots before Tuesday.

Before the early voting tabulation, Garcia held a slim 697-683 lead over Bethke. Peuttus held a 331-295 lead over Moore.
