“We got off to a little rocky start. However, the girls kept taking it to them,” said coach Katina Walker.
The Lady Trojans relied on their defense to get the lead in the second half.
“Samantha Salazar had three key stops during the second half to help us get the lead. We did many things well, but we have to keep working on the little things that got us into trouble early in the game,” Walker said.
Amanda Garza led the Beeville scoring attack with six points. Four Lady Trojans contributed three points in the win. Amber Garcia, Janie Cano, Salazar and Gabriella Hyturria made three markers each.
The A.C. Jones High junior varsity girls also opened the season with a victory over the host Miller girls. The JV final was a three-point win for the Beeville girls at 32-29. No stats or comments have been made available.
The Lady Trojans played host to Goliad on Friday night and will host Aransas Pass on Tuesday evening.
