Our Refugio County Champion, Katie Snyder, spelled words such as poi, falsetto, and algebra, but it was shogun that gave her the title. She will represent Refugio County, along with Logan Myers, who was declared co-champ in the eighth round.
Other students who participated were Reece Azam, Kym Dryer, Buster Dodge, Michelle Gonzales, Kobe Montalvo, Dakota Newman, Ayde Ordaz, Kaitlyn Stubbs, Victoria Valderrama, Ashely Villarreal, Adriana Williams and Destinee Williams. Principal Lara was the Bee’s announcer with Mrs. Gillespie, Mrs. Sternadel, and Ms. Stubbs serving as judges. Mrs. A. Garcia is the County Bee Chairperson and sponsor.
The county champion, Katie Snyder is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Synder. She attends Refugio Elementary School where she is a straight A student. Katie is the editor of the Kitten Express, an active member of her church where she serves as an accolade, and is a choir member. Her hobbies include reading, playing football, photography and she enjoys the outdoors.
Our co-champ, Logan Myers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Myers. He attends Refugio High School 7th and 8th grade where he is an A/B student. Logan plays football, basketball, tennis and baseball; he also throws the shot put in track.
He is a member of the First Baptist Church, and a 4-H member who raises rabbits and chickens. Logan’s hobbies include motorcycling, skateboarding and enjoying outdoor activities.
Katie and Logan will compete in the Regional Meet on March 24, in Victoria at the Johnson Symposium Auditorium. The winner of this competition will compete in Washington D.C. this summer.
