The Refugio High School One Act Play group will conduct a public performance at 7 p.m., March 26 in the RHS auditorium.

The Refugio One Act Play Group will present one of the great classics of world literature, Victor Hugo’s novel, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

The cast and crew from RHS will bring to life some of the most memorable fictional characters ever created. The characters include the pitiable but good-hearted bell-ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral, Quasimodo; the vain and handsome Captain Phoebus; and the villainous Dom Claude Frollo.

The performers will bring to life the temperamental poet Pierre Gringoire; the colorful beggars of Paris, and the beautiful, innocent naive gypsy, Esmeralda, whom they all love.

“The audience will enjoy scenes from the rollicking Festival of Fools; the notorious Court of Miracles; the torture on the Pillory; a daring rescue; and two thrilling deaths,” a spokesperson said. “It will prove to be both entertaining and enjoyable.”
