Five WHS and RHS baseball players named to all-tourney team

Mother Nature dealt the Refugio Baseball Tourney a hard blow last week. Only eight of 18 games were played and Faith Academy of Victoria was the only team that failed to play a game.

On Thursday, Karnes City won over Pettus, 9-3; Ganado outed Taft, 15-3; then took out Runge, 5-4; and Woodsboro routed Port Aransas 14-7.

During Friday play, Refugio and Woodsboro were held to a 4-4 hold-ff; Taft took out Runge 7-6; and Refugio rolled past Port Aransas 10 -1.

In Saturday action, Pettus beat Runge, 13- 3.

The Refugio All tourney team consists of Tim Gill of Pettus; Ryan Phillip of Port Aransas; Augie Rodriguez of Runge; Ryan Flores and R.J. Garza of Taft; Clint Bingenheimer and Jacob Wren of Woodsboro; ColbyBurson and Garret Shulz of Karnes City; Glenn Sparkman and Aaron Peters of Ganado; and Alex Ochoa, Jarred Sternadel and Shane Kelly of Refugio.
