The surveillance video above was taken from one of the cameras at Moreno Middle School Tuesday morning. Vandals, four in all, broke into the school ransacking rooms and stealing computers. One person was arrested this week but three more are thought to be involved.
Police Chief Joe Treviño credited the tip with the arrest of 19-year-old Jonathan Cadena.
According to Treviño and lead investigator Detective Sgt. Art Gamez, U.S. marshals helped make the arrest Monday.
Currently, the suspect is being held on a parole violation charge and on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Gamez said charges of burglary of a building, a state jail felony, and felony criminal mischief should be filed against the suspect before the end of the day Wednesday.
Gamez said the Beeville Independent School District is still trying to determine the extent of the damage and loss of property resulting from the break-in. That will determine the severity of the criminal mischief charge that is filed against the defendant.
Treviño said the case is still under investigation and more arrests are expected.
Security cameras in the school revealed that at least four burglars took part in the incident. All wore hoodies, gloves and masks.
Justice of the Peace Joe Lyvers set bond on the firearm possession charge at $2,500.
But Cadena will not be going anywhere. There is no bond set on the parole violation charge.
