The Woodsboro JV Lady Eagles used a potent offense and the strong arm of freshman Malorie Nesloney to overwhelm the Falls City JV Beaverettes 9-3 this past Monday in Falls City.

Nesloney pitched a five inning no-hitter striking out 13 batters. The three unearned runs came on errors.

“Our younger girls were very impressive tonight,” said Coach Jaime Cano. “Malorie continues to throw the ball hard and our defense is getting better with each game. Our bats have been really good the last couple of games and all these girls need is more playing time. The more games we can get in the more improvement we will see.”

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in their first at bat as Melinda Hernandez got things started with a one out walk and then stole second base. Nesloney helped her cause with an RBI single followed by another hit by Kitty Avery.

Woodsboro pushed two more runs across in the third inning on a hit by Nesloney, a double by Avery, and a hit by Tiffany Friedrichs. The Lady Eagles put the game out of reach in the fifth inning when they exploded for four runs. The damage came on a two RBI hit by Jennifer Elizardo.

Next up for the Lady Eagles is a 4 p.m. home game this Friday against the Charlotte JV Lady Trojans.
