The Karnes City High School Lady Badger Powerlifting team won 4th, while the boys’ team placed 7th, at the Goliad meet Saturday, Jan. 12.
In the 105 lb division, sophomore Savannah Segura won 2nd and freshmen Demi Lopez placed 3rd and Aubree Tostado 4th. Sophomore Ashlin Liska won 6th in the 132 lb division. Competing in the 165 lb division, sophomores Caley Jackson lifted for a 2nd place, while Ashley Carrasco got 9th. In the 198 lb class, freshman Miah Jalufka placed 4th. Alyssa Castillo, Hana Ochoa, Mari Alaniz and Roxie Carrasco competed at the weekend’s meet but bombed out. The girls faced 12 other schools at this meet.
Competing against 14 other schools, all 11 boys who went to Goliad placed. In the 123 lb division, sophomore Wesley Lover won 4th. Freshman Rhett Kelley got 16th and sophomore Robert Morin 17th in the 148 lb class. In the 181 lb division, seniors Nick Quintanilla was 5th and Claudio Capibaribe 6th. Freshman Nick Casanova placed 17th in the 198 lb class. In 220, Aaron Lopez was 6th. Competing in the 242 lb division, seniors Weston Block came in 2nd, Austin Block 3rd and Nick Guzman 7th. Weston is ranked 2nd in State in the lighter 220 lb. weight division and is working on shedding a couple of pounds to return to the lower weight class. Sophomore Treat Enriquez won 5th in the super heavy weight division.
