Eagle Coach Wade Miller was named Caller-Times Coach of the year and was a finalist for the 2012 All Area Coach of the Year.
After the Eagles suffered two disappointing seasons, Miller turned the football program around and spurred the deepest playoff run in 27 years.
The Eagles ended its season with a 10-3 record, losing to Falls City, which went as far as the semi-final round.
Eagle Dubray Bonner was named second team running back in both the All-Area and Caller-Times All-South Texas teams.
Honorable Mention All-Area picks were Tyler Quesada, Justin Fierova, Logan Moses, Lionel Brown, Jacob Nesloney, Mikey Barraza, David Carmichael, Dillon Starr, Jonathan Flores.
The defending state champion Refugio Bobcats, under head coach Jason Herring, garnered five All-State players and top honors in the 2012 All Area Team as well as positions on the Caller-Times All-South Texas team.
“We are very proud of these young men for their tremendous accomplishments,” Herring said.
All-Area Team first team picks include Draigon Silvas, All-Around Player of the Year; Travis Quintanilla, quarterback; John Wesley Shipp, offensive lineman; Marcus Thompson, receiver; Louie Whetsel, receiver; Devon LaFrance, defensive lineman; Alex Coronado, linebacker.
Second team selectee is Jack Gumm, linebacker.
Honorable mention players are Colton Carroll, Isaiah Perez, Adolfo Cordero, Tyler Castellano, Logan Myers, J.B. Brown, Cameron Sternadel.
Caller-Times All-South Texas team players include John Wesley Shipp, offensive lineman; Draigon Silvas, running back; and Marcus Thompson, wide receiver.
Second team picks are Logan Myers, offensive lineman, and Devon LaFrance, defensive lineman.
Third team selectee is Jack Gumm, linebacker.
