Mr. West was born Nov. 29, 1924, in New Castle to Alvin H. West and Mina Hardin West.
He was a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Refugio, a veteran of WWII and a life member of the Refugio Masonic Lodge 190 and also a Al-Amin Shrine member.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Wila Sue “Mickey” West.
Survivors include a daughter, M. Sue West of Corpus Christi; a son, Chuck West of Aransas Pass; a sister, Marge West Miller of Susanville, Calif.; two brothers, Bill West of Roseburg, Ore., and Hubert West of Mt. Carmel,Ill.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will conduct private services at a later date.
