Beeville native Urbana Chappa has introduced her own fashion line, "Maison de Urbana," during fashion week in New York Feb 1. Chappa, who was head cheerleaders at A. C. Jones High School in 1998, has lived in Los Angeles for the last eight years, first focusing on music but then switching her attention to fashion. She spent six months producing 20 pieces for her fashion line, which she says is intended to break out of the constructing norms of fashion by bringing back confidence, color and strength to every kind of women by combining the boldness of the West with the mystique of the East. Her designs, she says, introduced Eastern veils and burkhas in bold colors and sequins to the runways of New York City.
