Mr. Bishop was born July 2, 1971, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Daniel and Betty J. (Jackson) Tierney. He served in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver by profession. He volunteered with Beeville Emergency Medical Services and the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department. He also worked as a truck driver for seven years with KBR at Camp Anaconda in Balad, Iraq. He was recognized for bravery and courage when an IED exploded near his truck and he was injured. He was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for bravery, perseverance and devotion in his work as a civilian in the defense of freedom.
Survivors include his parents, DJ and Betty Tierney of Beeville; his father, RS Bishop Sr. of Tennessee; two sisters, Kathy (Chanse) Timbs of Normanna and Tasha Chambless of Pflugerville; a brother, JD (Kat) Tierney of Beeville; grandmothers, Edwardean Bishop of Longview and Gloria Brannan of Albuquerque, N.M.; three aunts, Laura (Woodie) Wood of Beeville, Paula (Jeff) Hayden and Rosemary (Curley) Stakvel, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service was conducted there at 11 o’clock Friday morning, March 1, with Michael Smith officiating. Services concluded at the chapel.
Pallbearers were Louis Irby, Donald Kenefick, Scott Hannah, Marc Ramsey, Frank Bajer and Derek Franco.
