Mr. Silvas was born April 16, 1935, in Refugio County to Encarnacion and Refugia Fierova Silvas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estella Silvas; two sisters, Theresa Naraja and Margaret Perez; and a brother, Nick Silvas.
Survivors include five daughters, Janie Barraza (Nick) of Refugio, Delma Valdez and Rachel Andrade, both of Woodsboro, Sylvia Tristan of Hardin and Nilda Andrade of Aransas Pass; a son, Lloyd Silvas of Refugio; three sisters, Tina Avila of Waller, Lola Kelly and Rita Mascorro, both of Victoria; four brothers, Jesse Silvas of Louisiana, Raymond Silvas and Manuel Silvas, both of Refugio, and Claude Silvas of Waller; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the James Catholic Church. Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
