ALICE – The Eagles and Lady Eagles were both blessed with great weather conditions on March 18-19, which contributed to the best round of golf this season for most of the players.

“I am so pleased with the effort the golfers have been making. They have done a great job this season and I think that district tournament will be very exciting next week!” Coach Carolyn Baker said.

On Monday, March 18, the Eagles competed in a tournament in Alice, and the three Eagles that competed walked away with a feeling of satisfaction, all scoring their personal best this season.

John Tyler Blaschke brought home the gold medal after playing an awesome round of golf, posting a score of 74 which is 4 strokes better than his last round in Alice and his personal best this season. Justin Fierova also improved his score since his last round in Alice, taking his score from a 94 down to an 82. And Quinton Burns also had his best golf score this week with a 100 which was 18 strokes better than his last round at Alice. The boys have been putting in a lot of hard work after school and during weekends and it is definitely paying off. “It was a very good day for me and it sets the tone for me for our district tournament next week!” John Tyler Blascke said.

On Tuesday, March 19, the Lady Eagles competed in Alice and also did well. Brittany Lopez took home the silver medal after playing her personal round of golf and posting a score of 88. “The weather was perfect and I was able to really concentrate.” Brittany Lopez said.

Jessica Bingenheimer also had her personal best score with a 105. Summer Scrimpsher shot a 133 and said she “felt like she definitely improved since her last tournament” and Kristina Foster posted a score of 134.

“The girls have been practicing hard and with 3 of them being brand new to the sport, any improvement is awesome! I am so proud of their efforts this season and I look forward to seeing all the golfers compete in district next week.” Coach Baker said.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles will compete in the district golf tournament on Tuesday, March 26 at 9 a.m. at the Alice Municipal Golf Course.
