To all University of Texas exes and friends, the annual meeting of the Bee County chapter of Texas Exes will be held on Wednesday, April 17, at the Beeville Country Club. The social will begin at 6 p.m., and a buffet dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

The speaker is former Lady Longhorn basketball coach Jody Conradt.

As only the second woman ever inducted into the Springfield, Mass. Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998, Conradt is known as a pioneer, but also a durable, dynamic and ethical leader who gave credibility to her sport during 31 years as head coach with the Longhorns.

She led the 1985-86 Longhorns to a 34-0 record and national championship, the NCAA’s first perfect season in the sport, and has received numerous awards and accolades in her field, along with helping to establish the Neighborhood Longhorns program at the University of Texas, an educational incentive program that currently serves 5,500 Austin-area students in grades 5-8, in 1991.

There will be a live auction and silent auction, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the scholarship fund. Coach Conradt has donated an official Longhorn basketball which she has autographed to be auctioned off. Other donations for the auctions are being accepted as well.

Cost for this event is $35 per person. RSVP and send checks to secure your reservation by April 8. Checks may be made to Bee County Texas Exes and mailed to Beth Wroten Newsom, P.O. Box 940, Beeville, TX 78104.

This event is open to everyone. For more information, phone 361-362-8739.
