ARANSAS PASS – For the 10th year in a row the Boys Varsity Tennis Team wins the District Championship. On March 26-27, the tennis teams traveled to Aransas Pass to compete against a new district. Without knowing much about this new district (Industrial, Tidehaven, Edna, Aransas Pass, Goliad, Palacios) the Bobcat tennis team competed hard and with the added pressure of retaining the District Championship. We had only seen a few of our district competition at one of our tournaments, and a couple of the schools had dropped down from 3A, but most of the district field was a mystery so preparing for this tournament was more intense.

Our motto this week was compete to the end! And compete we did. The doubles team of Alex Valdez and Andrew Garcia took first place, Adrian Henderson and Tyler O’Donnell were 4th. In singles Brett Davis took 2nd place and Darrion Cuellar was 3rd. The mixed doubles teams of Ally Coscetti and Glenn Wineman were 2nd and Coral Jones and Darrin De Leon took 4th. The final point total for the Bobcats was 55 points and the nearest competitors had only 20 points.

To continue the tradition the JV boys tennis team also took the district championship. Singles, Travis Anzaldua was 1st place, and Alan Guerra 3rd place. Boys doubles teams of Oscar Nanez and Trevor Niemann was 1st place, and Buster Dodge and Kenny Moore 2nd place.

Lady Cat tennis team may be small in numbers but big in results. Varsity girls singles, Raeven Barraza took 3rd place. Coral Jones (4th) and Ally Coscetti (2nd) were part of the mixed doubles teams. JV girls singles, Jessica Vasquez 1st place and Ellie Martinez 4th place.

Regional Competition will be held in San Marcos on April 17 - 18.
