Bundles of marijuana totaling 250 pounds were seized at scene. The marijuana had an estimated street value of $500,000.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., GCSO Deputy Brandon Gall followed the Trailblazer onto FM 239.
"All I did was catch up to the vehicle to try to see the vehicle's license plate," Gall said. "When they saw me, the vehicle sped up to speeds in excess of 100 mph. He stopped right here and five of them jumped out and pulled the bundles of what I believe to be marijuana out of the vehicle and tried to get over the fence with it."
Gall said four of the men tried to carry the bundles on their backs, but dropped them after about walking 30 feet past the fence. They then fled into the tree line.
"I chased them about 100 yards," Gall said. "Once the last person dropped the last bundle, I pulled all the bundles back here to a safe location."
A DPS chopper, four-wheelers, scent-tracking dogs and mounted horses were being used in the search.
