Goliad athletes prepare for regional at Poth meet

POTH – Goliad’s Isaiah Fair won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 10 inches at Saturday’s regional qualifier meet.

Dalton Sturm was second in the high jump (6-0) and third in the 300-meter hurdles (41.35 seconds).

John Von Dohlen placed second in the 1,600 (4:50.0), Ryan Walker was fifth in the 800 (2:11.0) and Colby Zamzow was fifth in the 400 (53.3).

The 4x400 relay team of Zamzow, Colby Berger, Sturm and Fair was fifth in 3:37.0.

In the girls division, Alexius Perry took second in the 100 (12.4) and teamed with Demari Ellis, Denise Jones and Christie Coles to capture second in the 4x100 relay in 50.6.

Katy Salziger was fourth in the 300 hurdles (48.7) and Coles, Perry, Courtnee Priour and Delayne Styra combined to finish fourth in the 4x200 relay in 1:49.0.

Goliad’s Devin Towery was sixth in the 1,600 (4:14.0), Carlee Howard was sixth in the pole vault (8-6) and 200 (26.7), Priour was sixth in the triple jump (33-6) and Sydney Morris was sixth in the 100 (13.1).

The Region IV-2A meet will be Friday and Saturday at Converse Judson High School. The field events will start Friday at 9 a.m. and the running preliminaries will begin Friday at 3 p.m. The running finals will be held Saturday.
