RHS One-Act-Play cast wins top honors, advances to area Saturday

Refugio High School One Act Play advances to the area level competition on Saturday, April 11 at Industrial High School.

The cast earned top honors with their performance of Victor Hugo’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” on April 2 at Coastal Bend College.

At the district level at CBC in Beeville, best actress honors went to Katie Bernal.

Jacob Cobb and Jace Sternadel received All-Star Cast awards.

The ensemble, consisting of Madison Preston, Stephanie Ordaz and Julie Wallace received Honorable Mention All-Star Cast awards.

Blaze Glocar and Ricky Solis also received Honorable Mention All-Star Cast.

“The kids have been a gem to work with,” said director DeeAnna Cobb. “Their enthusiasm and spirit are very easy to catch. Their professionalism is to be commended.”

The director said the experienced actors provided “tremendous help,” in her first year to direct the one-act play.

D. Cobb said the costumes received many compliments at the contests.

“We are very fortunate to have had Sharon Lowrence make most of our costumes,” D. Cobb said. “Those she did not make were pulled from her costume closet.”

A date has not yet been set for a possible public performance.

Other cast and crew are Briana Vega, Brittani Wade, Mariela Hernandez, Janet Cordero, Joshua Garcia, Devon Haertig, Thomas Ramirez, Michael Garcia, Fletcher Wright, Kyle Hendley and Daniel Shay.
