RaDonna Burton of George West would like to announce the engagement of her daughter, Katrina “Katy” Lynn Hajek, to Alexander “Alex” Rutherford Cange, son of Steve and Lisa Cange of Seabrook.

The couple met at their alma mater, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and both graduated in 2011.

The bride-elect is also the daughter of Dex Hajek of Alfred. She is the granddaughter of Lois and Arlyn Houdman of Beeville and the late Raymond Lee Burton and the late H.A. Scarborough; Jim and Marilyn Degman of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Eddie and Wilma Hajek of Edna.

She graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree, with a major in psychology. She is currently employed for the Barnes & Noble Booksellers at the University of Houston as the operations manager. She plans to continue with her master’s degree in psychology to pursue a career in counseling. She is a 2006 graduate of George West High School in George West.

The prospective groom graduated with a bachelor of environmental science degree and is currently employed at Clean Harbor Environmental as a field chemist in LaPorte. He is a 2006 graduate of Clear Lake High School and is the grandson of Dorothy and Harry Murray of Seabrook and Joan Cange of Ft. Myers, Fla., and the late Bill Cange.

The couple plan to wed in September and reside in Houston.
