Sarah Jean McDonnel, 79, of Bay City and formerly of Refugio, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009.

She was a member of the Nichols Street Church of Christ and a former member of The Church of Christ in Refugio.

McDonnel was born in Corpus Christi on Sept. 15, 1929, to Walter James and Willine Mead Bickford.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Elton McDonnel Jr.; two sisters, Nedra Lois Jones; and Billie Mae Bickford.

Survivors include one sister, Norma L. Gates of Bay City; three nephews and their spouses, Kenneth Wayne Gates and Rose Marie of Corpus Christi; David Michael Gates and Katherine of Dayton; Richard Jones and Laura of Houston.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brother Craig Van Dyke officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.


Timothy William Murphy, died Sunday, April 12,2009. He was an avid outdoorsman and volunteered in fishing trips for wounded soldiers during Warrior Weekend.

He was born July 7,1963, in San Antonio to Mary Jane Murphy and Walter J. Murphy.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Maureen Elaine Murphy; one daughter, Samantha Anne Murphy; two sons, Timothy William Jr. and Jonathan Daniel; his mother, Mary Jane Murphy; his father, Walter J. Murphy; two sisters, Patricia and Suzy Keepers; three brothers, Walter Jr., Phil and Dan Murphy.

Viewing will be held Saturday April 18, 2009, at the Sacred Heart Church in Rockport, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. A rosary will be recited at noon.
