Victoriano “Cheto” Valenzuela, 86, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008. He was a retired farm and ranch hand as well as a carpenter.

He was born Dec. 23, 1921, in McFaddin to Cosme and Beatriz Medina Valenzuela.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Maria Valenzuela; three brothers Juan, Max and Adolfo Valenzuela.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Valenzuela of Goliad; two sons, Henry Valenzuela and Victoria Valenzuela Jr., both of Victoria; one stepson, Leonard Barrientes of Goliad; one stepdaughter, Leticia Barrientes of Goliad; three sisters, Lola Garza, Julia Menchaca, and Maggie Perez, all of Woodsboro; one brother, Alfred (Lucas) Valenzuela of Woodsboro; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Refugio.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Woodsboro. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Woodsboro.

Pallbearers are Llano Baumgartner, Leonard Barrientes, Benny Briseno, Isidro Valenzuela, Lloyd C. Cisneros, Fritz Baumgartner, Alfred Valenzuela and Oscar Cardenas.
