WHS royalty awaits Homecoming

The duchesses to the 2008 Homecoming Court have been named at Woodsboro High School. The student body elected three senior girls to be members of the court. The Homecoming Queen, also elected by the entire student body, will be announced during the halftime activities of the football game Sept. 26. Duchesses for this year are Lisa Gonzales, Morgan Haertig and Kaitlin McCool.

Duchess Lisa Nicole Gonzales is the daughter of Joe and Diana Gonzales. Escorting her is Dillan Blaker, son of Roger Blaker Jr. and Rebecca Blaker.

This year Lisa serves as co-captain on the varsity cheerleader squad, as she also was elected her sophomore and junior year. Other honors are being named a UCA All-Star cheerleader at camp this summer. Lisa currently serves as senior class secretary and has held this position two years in a row.

An active member of the Student Council, she’s been elected as a representative her junior and senior year. A member of the Spanish club for two years, Lisa was elected as Senorita Bella her senior year. Lisa is also a member of the Business Professionals of America, and a four-year member of the Mighty Eagle Band. Lisa also participates in cross-country and in the spring will run track. A regional qualifier in computer applications her junior year, Lisa plans on participating in UIL next spring.

Lisa attends Victory Life Fellowship Church. Her plans after graduation are to attend Texas State University and pursue a career in business management.

Duchess Morgan Chey Haertig is the daughter of Robert Haertig and Melissa Haertig. Escorting her is Clint Bingenheimer, son of Bill and Missy Bingenheimer.

Elected to the varsity cheerleader squad her sophomore and junior year, Morgan is captain of her squad this year. She is active in various clubs and organizations.

Morgan is a two-year member of the Spanish Club, where she is currently serving as reporter. A first year representative to the high school student council, Morgan is also a member of the National Honor Society and holds the position of secretary.

Morgan attends Faith United Methodist Church. She plans to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio and major in radiology.

Duchess Kaitlin Alyssa McCool is the daughter of Bobby and Jami McCool. Escorting her is Josh Jones, son of Matt and Starla Jones.

Kaitlin is very active in school as well as county organizations. This year serving as president of the student council, Kaitlin has also served as vice-president her junior year and representative her sophomore year. Elected to the National Honor Society her junior year, Kaitlin is serving as vice-president this year.

An active and committed 4-H member, Kaitlin is vice-president of the Refugio County 4-H County Council, a council delegate for the Bonnie View 4-H Club, and a Refugio County 4-H ambassador. She has received a Gold Star Award for her dedication and commitment to 4-H. Kaitlin plans to participate in varsity basketball, power-lifting, track and softball. She is a member of a select softball team in San Antonio.

Kaitlin attends Woodsboro Church of Christ and plans to attend a university and pursue a career in sports medicine and ortho-bionomy.
