On the girls side, the competitors included Puffy Bisby, Latarian Perkins, Emma Rose and Christina Mancilla.
“All of the girls competed very well,” said Coach Drew Cox.
“It was the first meet of the year for the Lady Cat lifters and, for most, their first power lifting meet ever.”
On the boys side, the competitors were Anthony McGuill, Thomas Aranda, Dalton Brown, Trace Mascorro, Joseph Perez and Manny Salazar.
Aranda competed in the 148 lb division, finishing 11th out of 27 lifters with a weight total of 935 lbs.
McGuill was in the top 10 with a 9th place finish. He finished with a lift total of 960 lbs in the 181 lb division.
Perez was the silver medalist with a 2nd place finish in the 220 lb division. He finished with a lift total of 1175 lbs.
At the Yorktown meet on Feb. 1, the Cats and Lady Cats followed their first meet with vast improvements.
Lifters for the Lady Cats included Rose and Perkins.
Rose, a first year lifter, increased her lift total from the Goliad meet by 25 lbs with a total lifting weight of 380 lbs.
Perkins finished as the silver medalist in her weight class, earning 2nd place with a lift total of 590 lbs.
Lifters in Yorktown for the boys included McGuill, Aranda, Brown, Mascorro, Christian Mascorro and Perez.
Aranda finished as the bronze medalist, earning 3rd place out of 20 lifters with a lift total of 965lbs.
McGuill finished as the bronze medalist in the 181 lbs division, finishing 3rd out of 13 competitors with a lift total of 1060 lbs.
Anthony clinched the medal with a personal best of 440 lbs on his final lift.
Christian Mascorro and Trace Mascorro finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 242 lbs division. Christian earned the silver medal with a lift total of 1,080 lbs and Trace earned the bronze with a lift total of 1,010 lbs.
Brown narrowly missed a medal, finishing 6th place in the super heavy division, but had personal best lifts in the squat (500 lbs) and bench (300 lbs).
“All of these lifters are to be commended on their efforts,” said Cox.
The Bobcat and Lady Cat power lifters will compete next at the Industrial invitational meet on Saturday, Feb. 8.
