REFUGIO – Once again, the fair is almost here.
A lot of volunteers are spending many hours making sure everything is in order and ready to go for everyone to come out to the fair grounds and enjoy several days with their families and friends.
There will be changes this year to improve the fair.
The Boy Scouts of Woodsboro and Refugio work very hard at collecting the “entry fee” and parking vehicles in an appropriate manner.
Twenty handicap parking spaces will be available, and the rest will be marked spots where you will be asked to park.
There will be no parking along the driveways. These need to be kept clear for the large trucks and trailers coming to deliver the bulls for the rodeo.
Please, when asked to park in a certain spot don’t be rude. They are doing this for everyone’s safety.
Entry fees have changed this year. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4- 5 p.m. it will cost $1 per person in the vehicle; from 5 p.m. until closing it will be $2 per person in vehicle.
On Saturday from 12-5 p.m., $1 per person; 5 p.m. until closing, $2 per person.
Children under the age of 12 will be admitted free of charge.
When told the amount you owe, please do not be rude to the Scouts, Scoutmasters or parents working.
If you come with a $100 bill and only owe $1, be prepared to receive ones in change.
Please try hard to come with the correct amount of money needed.
The Scouts receive 50 percent of what is collected at the gate from the Fair Association.
This is their fundraiser, which helps pay for Scout camps and supplies.
“We look forward to seeing each and every one of you come out to the fair grounds and help support the youth of our county,” said Gwen Koliba, organizer.
“We hope everyone enjoys the 2014 Refugio County Fair this year. Good luck to all our participants,” she said.
“The youth we are supporting our leaders of tomorrow.”
